SAY "NO" TO NEW PARKING REGULATIONS
We all want to protect the character, integrity, and quality of our neighborhood. But the HOA's proposed regulations on parking are going a step too far.
The proposed parking rules ban residents from parking on the street. Period. The new rules state, "Except for temporary loading and unloading, motor vehicles belonging to residents cannot be parked anywhere within the Project [Ponte Vista] except for the Owner’s driveway and/or garage, or private parking areas so long as parking does not encroach into the sidewalk area." Our HOA should not be taking away the rights of homeowners to park on the street.
The HOA is prioritizing parking for guests instead of residents. The HOA's parking study says that homeowners using the parking in our community does, "Not leave enough street parking for visitors and guests." The HOA should be prioritizing the needs of our homeowners, not guests. If there is parking available, a homeowner should be able to access parking in our community.
The HOA should not be in the business of regulating what takes place in the privacy of our homes, including inside our garages. The proposed rules very specifically say, "Garages shall not be converted to living quarters, workshops or storage which will preclude the parking of the number of vehicles for which the garage was designed to hold." We should not allow our HOA to dictate to homeowners what we can or cannot do inside our own homes, including storing personal items or pursing hobbies. What's next? The HOA telling us we can't have dogs? Where does the slippery slope end when we start to allow our HOA to make decisions about what we do inside the doors of our homes? Homeowners should not give up our Right of Control.
By putting the HOA in charge of deciding who deserves exceptions to the parking rules, we are creating a system of "winners" and "losers." That's just not fair. All homeowners should be able to access parking if they so choose.
Our HOA should be in the business of keeping our community clean and making sure the shared areas are maintained. They should be prioritizing the needs of our homeowners. The HOA should not be in the business of telling us what to do in our homes or taking away our right to park on our streets.
The new regulations proposed by the HOA are intended to improve parking for guests, not for homeowners. Our HOA Board of Directors should be fighting for the rights of our homeowners, not taking away our right to use parking in our community. It should be a homeowner's right to choose where to park their vehicles.
By giving the HOA the power to decide which residents have sufficient reason to park on the streets and which residents do not, they are creating a system that is doomed to be partial and unfair. Overbearing HOA rules like these make our community less attractive to future homeowners. All residents should be able to use the streets. Period.
The HOA should be in the business of keeping our community clean and safe. Fix the roads. Keep the pool area clean. Take care of the landscaping. Maintain the trails. The inside of our garages should not be subject to the HOA's jurisdiction. This creates a bad precedent for future HOA restrictions on our properties.

TELL HER YOU OPPOSE THE PROPOSED PARKING RULES AT PONTE VISTA
Sample Email:
Dear Ponte Vista HOA Board of Directors,
I am a homeowner at Ponte Vista. I am writing to strongly oppose the proposed changes to the community's parking rules.
The HOA should prioritize the rights and needs of homeowners. The HOA should not be regulating whether or not we park multiple vehicles in our garages. There should not be restrictions on a homeowner's right to park on our streets.
I urge you to stand with homeowners and oppose the new parking restrictions.
Sincerely,
Name, Ponte Vista Resident
